Machinist | Glendale, AZ

Position Summary

Under direct supervision and as part of a collaborative team environment, the Machinist I is responsible for operating one or more production machines in accordance with established procedures. This role involves producing quality parts by working from blueprints, sketches, route sheets, and work instructions while maintaining safety, accuracy, and efficiency.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities-

Perform repetitive machine operations, including rework, such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, reaming, and smoothing parts.

Make minor machine adjustments as required and report improper machine operation or cutting performance to the appropriate team members for correction and continuous improvement.

Align, position, and secure parts using standard fixtures and established methods.

Set and adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to produce parts that meet quality and specification requirements.

Perform machining operations including reaming, tapping, spot-facing, chamfering, countersinking, and counterboring.

Conduct visual inspections of parts to identify burrs, surface damage, cracks, tool marks, or other irregularities.

Remove burrs, sharp edges, and other imperfections from machined components.

Inspect parts for conformance to specifications using visual examination, gauges, and other measuring instruments.

Accurately and consistently perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities as required.

Adhere to all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications-
-High school diploma or equivalent required.
-Minimum of 1?3 years of general or related machine shop experience, or demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the position.
-Demonstrated manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
-Ability to read, interpret, and understand work instructions, blueprints, and technical drawings.
-Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics.
-Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English.
-Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and contribute as a participative team member.
