DESCRIPTION:

The Technician will be responsible for conducting bench level testing or experiments, writing technical reports, supporting test request workflow, operation of equipment in the materials characterization and testing labs while ensuring compliance with BD quality policies.
The Technician understands procedures and practices through appropriate communication, training and education of sound quality assurance principles, ensure compliance with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.

Project Responsibilities:
Assists in the execution of materials testing that support sustaining engineering, new product development or technology feasibility testing with supervision.
Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory material test results.
Reports results of experiments to direct manager and materials engineers.
When necessary, prepares technical reports according to an established template.
Maintains good laboratory practices (GLP).
Works with the team to organize lab functions, including calibration.
Has basic understanding of materials characterization capabilities.
Completes other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
At minimum, an associate's degree in a Technical or Science Field.
1-5 years relevant experience in a technical discipline, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
Experience with material characterization or testing instruments and equipment
Training in laboratory safety and procedures.

Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of the operation of mechanical measurement equipment (e.g. Instron) or materials characterization capabilities (i.e. FTIR, DSC, TGA) is desirable.
Ability to work in a team and independently
Ability to integrate written and verbal instructions, work under supervision.
Good communication skills, both written and oral.
Knowledge of computer programs, especially excel.
Aware of External Regulations (ISO, FDA, OSHA, ASTM).
