JobsRUs.com is seeking a meticulous and skilled Laboratory Technician for our client in Decatur, IL. This role is essential in ensuring the quality and safety of our products through rigorous testing and analysis. If you are detail-oriented and have a strong background in laboratory procedures, this position offers a great opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare process and finished product samples
Perform analytical testing using instrumental and wet chemistry procedures
Record results using computerized data systems

Conduct daily process monitoring tests throughout the plant
Maintain samples of tested products for potential verification

Document testing results and promptly notify operations of necessary adjustments
Enter and report data using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
Understand production processes and recommend adjustments to operators to achieve product quality

Perform light maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment
Maintain ongoing records of testing procedures and input data into the computer daily

Ensure adequate supplies for testing procedures and notify the supervisor when reordering is needed
Compare equipment readouts with sample standards to ensure accurate system operation

Maintain a clean and organized work area, washing and storing equipment properly
Foster effective working relationships with fellow employees
Perform duties safely, using approved safety equipment and completing all safety certification requirements
Adhere to FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA, and employer standards and guidelines

Education and Training Preferred
2 or more years of science degree

Experience Preferred
Good attendance history
Excellent safety record and awareness
Proficient in lab instrument operation programs and current commercial software applications (Excel, Word)
Experience with lab documentation and standard lab equipment (e.g., pH meter, balances, spectrophotometer)
Strong math skills for lab testing calculations
Previous plant experience
