DESCRIPTION:

Safety/Risk Management:
Follows policy/procedure for Incident Report/ Sentinel Events.
Follows Confidentiality Policy/Procedure.
Complies with Infection Control Guidelines.
Creates a Safe Environment: Fall Precaution; Restraint Management; Patient I.D.; Unit/Departmental Specific Policies.
Respects patient/guest?s personal property.
Adheres to hospital wide and specific department safety regulations: Fire and Tornado; Environmental Safety.
Performs equipment safety checks.
Complies with patients? rights/regulations.

Coordination of Services:
Functions as Preceptor for new co-workers.
Coordinates workflow by communicating to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Demonstrates ability to direct and/or assist with the work activities of department consistent with patient needs and staff capabilities.
Identifies and resolves problems related to patient, families, physicians, staff, and equipment.
Participates in quality improvement activities that ensure and enhance quality of patient care and/or reporting mechanisms. Evaluates technical quality of sonogram.

Primary Aspects:
Demonstrates proper time management skills and priority setting.
Assures all patient charges/credits are entered appropriately.
Documentation is factual, accurate, organized, complete, current, and confidential.
Identifies patient education needs and utilizes appropriate resources to meet those needs, documenting patient/S.O. response to teaching.
Demonstrates flexibility regarding workload, assignments and change.
Performs vascular sonographic examinations including routine and emergency procedures. Performs portable exams in patient rooms, intensive care units, emergency room and operating room. Documents findings for physician interpretation.
Evaluates appropriateness of orders for examination. Obtains appropriate clinical history and documents information. Retrieves/prepares patient files. Schedules examinations and instructs patients in exam procedures.
