Job Description The Project Development Manager supports the business for front end development (FEL 0/1/2) for major capital projects, primarily large strategic projects. The Project Development Manager ensures that potential solutions and alternatives are evaluated in an objective and timely manner. They will ensure all business objectives for the project are met. The Project Development Manager interfaces with cross-functional teams including marketing, process technology, maintenance, and operations to deliver maximum business value from the project. - Translating business objectives into the capital project objectives. - Development of project charter and completing opportunity framing. - Leads and organizes the Project Team. - Manage a portfolio of projects in FEL 0/1/2. - Ensures all non-capital alternatives to meet the business objectives have been evaluated. - Is accountable to the business for project success. - Accountable for establishing adequate design basis to support end of FEL 1 project schedule and cost estimate commitments. - Ability to understand capacity constraints and the capabilities of the operational units. - Be able to learn and understand the technology. - Resolves conflict quickly and decisively - Ensures the team does not stray from the goal - Authority and drive to overcome issues or recommend project cancellation - Is responsible through the Project Team members for acquiring and releasing project resources as needed during the initial phases of the project. - Establishes effective communications within the Project Team to ensure alignment among business objectives, project objectives, and the basis of design. - Leads the development of the roles and responsibilities definitions for the project and ensure each functional team member understands their role and deliverables. - Manages overall project expenditures and schedule to meet business expectations. - Clearly sets overall Project Team direction and expectations - Is accountable for total project cost and schedule. - Provides primary interface between marketing, PT, the Central Capital Project Leadership Team and the Business Capital Planning Managers. - Drives capital project work processes and practices as described in the GPM Manual. - Ensures basic data is timely and complete prior to initiating detailed design. - Leads all gatekeeping reviews and ensures all FEL 0/1/2 deliverables are met. - Prepares all project-funding documents. - Coordinate with Procurement organization to ensure that procurement plans are developed and executed in compliance with Grace Policies and applicable laws. - Ability to work with and manage front end design teams - Contingency planning expertise and knowledge - Ability to identify, assess and manage risk Required Experience - Minimum 15+ years of experience in Project Management with a portion of that time in early FEL development leadership role. - Experience in Operations or Supply Chain Leadership roles in the chemical manufacturing and/or petrochemical industry. - A Bachelor's degree, in chemical, mechanical or electrical engineering is required. - 8-10 years of engineering project management experience and 8-10 years of plant leadership or engineering experience - Self-managing, proactive - Strong verbal and written communications skills - Excellent teamwork and ability to work across business functions. - Process Safety Management (PSM) experience. Preferred Qualifications - Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus - Proven track record of success in leading multi-site, regional and/or global project initiatives - This position will require up to 50% travel including international travel | |
