Seeking to hire a Purchasing Assistant for our client in Austin, Tx 78728.

23.59 per hour


The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for efficiently sourcing and processing purchase requests, including capital equipment, machined parts, contracted labor, and miscellaneous items. This role involves maintaining compliance with company and departmental procedures and serving as the primary liaison between Maintenance, Engineering, and the Company's vendor base.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Review requisitions for order sourcing, process bid awards, and ensure the lowest cost of ownership.
Communicate specifications to suppliers, correct deficiencies, and manage requisitions for Capital Equipment and MRO items.
Administer blanket purchase orders, contracts, and on-site contracts with a focus on contractual safeguards.
Identify cost reduction opportunities, expedite deliveries, and reconcile purchase order discrepancies.
Screen and manage a supplier base, correspond with suppliers, and negotiate prices and terms.
Implement process improvements for the purchasing function.
Adhere to cGMP's, SOP's, and plant policies/guidelines.
Coordinate Safety Data Sheets SDS acquisition for specific purchases.
Maintain ethical conduct, uphold the Company Code of Conduct, and establish positive relationships with suppliers.
Represent Purchasing in meetings to assist in problem-solving with cross functional teams.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

Technical background with knowledge of mechanical and electrical functions, ability to read technical drawings preferred.
Ability to work independently with a strong understanding of cost implications.
Familiarity with technical terms and their application, as well as good negotiation skills.
Self-starter with strong analytical, oral and written communication, and computer skills Excel, Word.
Working knowledge of manufacturing fundamentals and good business practices.

Education and Experience

Associates degree with 2 years of Purchasing experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent with 4 years of Purchasing experience.
Experience in Maintenance, Repair, and Operations Purchasing preferred.
Experience with ORACLE and iProcurement preferred.
Experience in a regulated industry preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Multi-million dollar annual purchasing responsibility with authority to commit individual purchases up to 300,000.
Work performed in an office environment.
Travel less than 5 percent of the time.

Other

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to attain desired results from groups over which there is no direct authority.
Obtain necessary technical training to support Engineering and Maintenance.
