Job Summary: This position is responsible for overseeing the packaging process and ensuring it runs smoothly. That includes tasks like operating the vertical bagging and horizontal wrapping machines, packing product into cases, operating forming cartonniers, palletizing and labeling accuracy. The Packing Lead is responsible for ensuring that employees are properly trained to perform packaging tasks. They are responsible for maintaining all safety and quality processes, adjusting the machines to optimum settings, obtaining minimal downtime, fewest rejects with efficient output and product switchovers. They are also responsible for keeping track of packaged inventories and recording daily packaging amounts and reporting any issues to Supervisors and Managers. Essential Job Functions ?Ability to set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot on assigned machines. ?Troubleshoot equipment to run quality product at specified rate with minimal downtime and scrap. ?Perform set-ups, including preparation for the next jobs. ?Lead and motivate a fast-paced packaging team. ?The packaging team leader will give directions to packaging staff at Shine. ?Assists in directing and training employees assigned to a specific area, looking out for safety, and communicates and delegating tasks to team members per Supervisor?s instructions. ?Making sure that the packing area is clean and always organized. ?They must continually seek improvement in their department. ?Packs products in an accurate and timely manner. ?Follows company standardized pack specifications along with any customer specified deviations as communicated through the quality control department and paperwork. ?Obtains and distributes products to appropriate pack lines and reduces processing costs by reducing the amount of repacks. ?Maintain a safe environment for staff by implementing safety protocols and by ensuring all machinery is safe for employees to use. ?The packaging team leader will ensure QC processes are correctly implemented and that quality is maintained throughout the packaging process. ?Ensure a great level of attention to detail and safety standards. ?Ensuring machine-specific functions, such as configuring the equipment, loading, and operating the machines, and optimizing the machine capability. ?Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle and control and adjust machine settings (e.g., speed). ?Communicate mechanical and operational issues to the maintenance team as they arise and maintain Supervisor informed on all issues. ?Complete all necessary documentation and reports. ?Operates machinery, equipment, tools in a safe and proficient manner according to standards, guidelines, and instructions and assigned machinery speeds. ?Must be able to read and understand product specifications established by Shine Foods and recognize deviations from those specifications. ?Performs clean-up activities as assigned. ?May be assigned other duties by plant management as required. Monday - Friday from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM with flexibility to work on weekends. | |
