JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dynamic Planner/Buyer to join our team in Puerto Rico. This position is crucial for ensuring material availability and driving business value. As a key player in a collaborative team environment, you will be responsible for managing tactical procurement activities across a diverse supply base. Your role involves close collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sourcing Teams to address materials issues and develop effective strategies. The ultimate goal is to guarantee efficient material flow, considering warehouse capacity and inventory targets, and minimizing disruptions and costs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and develop work processes integrating production requirements into materials plans.
Plan and procure all items to meet production schedules, aligning with established inventory goals.
Coordinate and publish reports including Inventory Levels and Forecasts, PPV (Purchase Price Variance) Actuals and Forecast, Supplier Scorecards, and Cost Improvement Projects.
Schedule materials by converting Detailed Schedules into daily/weekly material requirements to ensure timely availability.
Review MRP and/or manual requisitions on a weekly basis.
Issue and confirm order acknowledgments with designated suppliers within agreed lead times.
Ensure invoices are paid within agreed supplier payment terms.
Conduct MRO purchases and contracts based on site requests.
Drive improvements in supplier performance metrics, specifically Supplier OTIF.
Investigate and recommend implementation of advanced materials strategies (e.g., Point of Use, Kanban, VMI).
Assure master data in ERP and/or ordering systems is always correct.
Create or review production work orders and generate material orders for intercompany and external suppliers.
Acquire and provide current material status to Production Control/Manufacturing Teams as needed.
Generate Engineering Change Requests and establish effective dates.
Develop Requests for Engineering Evaluation and Engineering Deviation Authorization documentation.
Disposition and/or ensure the return of defective material to suppliers.
Comply with ISO, FDA, BD policies, and procedure requirements related to purchasing and control.
Promote a safe work environment, following safety procedures.
Participate in Environment Health and Safety (EH&S) programs and initiate corrective actions for identified hazards.
Provide recommendations for systems that improve product/process quality, reduce costs, and increase production capability.
Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Moderate SAP or other ERP system planning knowledge.
Strong cross-functional relationship development and influencing abilities.
Basic knowledge of processes associated with the production items to be supported.
Understanding of basic manufacturing and quality concepts.
Basic knowledge of master data elements and functions within an ERP system.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Application of basic statistics.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated initiative and lateral thinking for problem-solving.
Sense of urgency, strong decision-making, and communication skills.
ISM and/or APICS Certification desired.
Fully bilingual (English/Spanish).
Willingness to travel to the US mainland and offshore upon request.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor?s degree in Engineering, Business, Materials Management, or a related field.
