ESCRIPTION
As radiological technician, performs routine radiographic procedures with the least amount of radiation
exposure to the patient to acquire optimum quality x-rays.
Responsibilities
Policy, Procedure and guidelines regarding Infectious Waste and Hazardous Materials.
Follows and adheres to OSHA exposure control plan on a daily basis.
observes OSHA regulations, complying with 100% of rules regarding infectious waste and hazardous
materials.
Ensures careful handling and ensures protection to all (100%) personnel, patients, guests, from
exposure to infectious, hazardous materials.
Plan and organize all Radiology examinations.
Prior to the exam, prepare the room by having the table in position, ensuring enough cassettes are
available, that proper technique is selected and that needed supplies and contrast materials are prepared.
Tech should commence examinations within 3 minutes of directive to perform the examination.
After completion of each examination, cleans and straightens radiographic room to ensure patient
readiness of the room for the next examination, according to appropriate procedures.

Prepares the patient for testing.
all patients, technician must compare descriptive patient information on the encounter form with the
actual patient presentation and observation.
Verifies patient identification with each encounter.
With a caring and compassionate manner, positions and immobilizes patient according to appropriate
standards and procedures, ensuring quality x-rays. Achieves less than 5% repeat rate resulting from
improper positioning and immobilization.
Provides 'personalized' care by showing compassion and respect to 100% of patients treated. No more
than 5% documented patient concerns annually will be observed.
On a daily basis, the radiology technician performs professional services according to policy and procedure.
Appropriately select and operate equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety practices
100% of the time.
Measure the anatomical body part and select appropriate technical factors with less than 5% repet rate
resulting from improper selection of technical factors.
Process film and monitor processing equipment according to standards and procedures resulting in
appropriate utilization of resources of not less than 5% error of inappropriate utilization.
Demonstrates radiographic proficiency with a combined repeat rate of less than 5%.
Ensure that radiographs are properly marked with personal markers and all patient ID information is
properly flashed on the X-ray in the appropriate location with 100% accuracy.
Complete and update all radiographic film file records in accordance with appropriate standards.
Assists in the development/revisement of radiographic standards where indicated, providing ongoing
feedback regarding department operation.
Ensures cost efficiency and effectiveness of operating each unit of service (lab, radiology, etc).
Verifies lowest available cost of departmental supplies by adhering to contract purchase agreements
between Client Health Center and vendor.
Preserves supply cost by minimizing wastage of x-ray film, developer, fixer.
Ensures preventative maintenance schedules on 100% of equipment is followed and documented.
Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal,
pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
Demonstrates knowledge of the changes associated with aging.
Demonstrates ability to provide care based upon physical, psycho/social, cultural, safety and other agerelated
factors.
Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient needs.
Performs miscellaneous job related responsibilities as assigned.
