Weekly Pay! $41.37/Hour Shift: Days, 4x10, 0700-1900 (hours may vary) Guaranteed Hours: 36 Assignment Length: 13 weeks Required Certifications: BLS from AHA only Preferred Certifications: ACLS from AHA only Required Experience: 1 year Endo Tech/GI Must be willing to float when needed General Comments Qualifications: Endoscopy technician experience to include esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, biopsy, polypectomy, PEG tube placement, hemostasis, dilations, foreign body removal, endoscope reprocessing. Provation experience preferred. Certifications: None required. Job Summary The GI Endoscopy Tech plans for assigned procedure according to career path designation. Obtains supplies, equipment and instruments for procedure according to department procedure and with respect to the needs of the patient, procedure and physician's preference card. Sets up room according to procedure prior to procedure scheduled time, anticipating variables, the needs of the patient and the physician. Updates preference cards or provides input to preference card changes as physician requests occur. Informs proper personnel when supplies are low so that reorder may occur in a timely manner. Cleans and processes scopes, instruments, and equipment in accordance with manufacturer?s guidelines and/or professional standards of care according to career path designation. Cleans, disinfects and/or sterilizes instruments, equipment, and supplies according to established procedure. Reprocessing is done to ensure compliance with infection prevention guidelines. Ability to set up and assist with all gastroenterology procedures. Re-stocks room following procedures to ensure availability for the next day. Returns all equipment and supplies to proper place to ensure availability to physicians and co-workers. Assists physician and RN during procedures to perform all procedures utilizing highest safety standards, works under the delegation of the RN in the room for patient care as appropriate, and maintains competency on all procedural skills and equipment according to career path designation. Working knowledge of instrumentation and procedural supplies. Under the direction of the physician and nursing team, maintains safe and competent execution of procedural equipment and instrumentation specific to endoscopy procedures. Knowledge of and adherence to proper specimen handling process. Responsible for ensuring proper labeling, proper care and delivery of specimens obtained. Has working knowledge of portable endoscopic equipment. Participates actively in time out procedures as outlined in Hospital policy. Observes universal precautions consistently. Wears proper personal protective equipment when appropriate. Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Demonstrates knowledge of the changes associated with aging. Demonstrates ability to provide care based upon physical, psycho/social, cultural, safety and other age-related factors. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs. Demonstrates effective and accurate verbal, written and electronic communication. Creates a positive climate for communications. 5.2 Takes ownership in resolving conflicts appropriately in the workplace. Maintains the confidentiality of patient, staff, and hospital information from written, verbal, electronic sources. Communication is timely, accurate, concise, complete, and appropriate. Utilizes constructive problem-solving techniques to promote change and deal with issues. Follows established channels for addressing issues, concerns, and problems. Performs any additional duties as assigned by supervisor. | |
