Weekly Pay! $45.00/Hour Shift: 1st Shift Work days are Monday - Friday day shift Candidate must be able to work 3 days in the office, 2 days remote. Days will be determined based on department need/projects etc. LOCALS ONLY The Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary Innovation team supporting a variety of medical technologies and solutions with an initial focus on new drug delivery systems. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Innovation, this is a technical position where the engineer will contribute significantly to exciting, high visibility projects and collaborations across the R&D portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing key project deliverables, which includes generating creative solutions to complex technical problems. An aptitude for technological program management and communication to both internal and external stakeholders is required. A professional background in biotechnology and/or medical device design is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of engineering design, computational modelling, analytical techniques, biology, and human physiology to solve multidisciplinary biomedical problems. The Engineer must be able to effectively collaborate with team members from varying backgrounds and should have strong oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will have an interest in technically contributing to areas beyond medical devices and drug delivery systems over time due to the dynamic nature of the Innovation team and its programs. Job Responsibilities: (Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities) Design and implement scientific studies (benchtop and in vivo) to characterize the performance of medical technologies, which may include protocol and novel method development. Provide technical direction to advance medical device design including ideation, prototype development, and bench/in vivo evaluations. Conduct data and statistical analysis efforts of experimental results to generate conclusions to drive project directions. Communicate results effectively (oral and written) to key stakeholders of varying technical abilities. Understand customer needs through literature review, technology assessments, and ethnographic research. Collaborate with cross-functional team members to develop technology solutions that address prioritized unmet needs. Education and Experience Degree in engineering (biomedical preferred) or related field is required. Advanced degree is preferred. Experience: PhD, MS + 2 years of relevant industry experience, or BS + 4 years of relevant industry experience is required Experience in application of engineering first principles to design drug delivery device concepts for parenteral applications. Experience in planning and execution of bench and in vivo experiments to evaluate and down-select drug delivery device concepts is preferred. Experience with a range of physical test methodologies (e.g., force, pressure, flow, etc.) and data acquisition is preferred. Experience with data analysis, signal processing, statistics, and technical writing is required. Knowledge and Skills Required: Ability to plan and conduct scientific experiments and effectively analyze, interpret, report, and present experimental results Experience contributing to multidisciplinary teams including the ability to influence without direct reporting ties Ability to translate an issue or problem statement into study strategy Ability to adapt quickly to changes in program and project priorities Strong oral and written communication skills and team collaboration Preferred skills Programming (e.g., Python, Matlab) and/or graphical design (e.g., SolidWorks or other equivalent 3D modeling) Experience with in vivo animal models and medical device development Knowledge of statistics and use of statistical packages for analyzing datasets Experience working under a quality system Knowledge of drug delivery systems and/or medical device development Image processing and analysis Work Environment: The candidate is expected to work in a research lab environment and may require working with chemicals, in vivo models, and biological materials (blood, tissues, etc.) BD04123JD BD04123JD | |
