PRODUCTION SHIFT SUPERVISOR - PLASTIC MANUFACTURING

Location: Atlanta, GA (South Fulton)
Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour
Industry: Plastic Bottle Manufacturing
Schedule: 12-Hour Rotating Day or Night Shift

Day Shift: 6:45 AM-7:15 PM
Night Shift: 6:45 PM-7:15 AM

Rotating Workdays:
Week 1: Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday
Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Production Shift Supervisor provides hands-on leadership, training, and operational support to contracted production employees within a high-volume plastic bottle manufacturing facility.

This position is responsible for supervising employees during the assigned shift, supporting production standards, coordinating new-hire training, monitoring safety and GMP/PPE compliance, and maintaining communication between production associates, plant leadership, and the onsite staffing team.

This is a hands-on production leadership position. The Supervisor must be capable of learning, operating, and training employees on the machinery and production processes within their assigned area.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Leadership & Operations

- Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and direction to contracted production employees.
- Monitor employee performance and help ensure production, quality, safety, and delivery standards are consistently met.
- Monitor production conditions, including equipment or lines being down, staffing concerns, workflow issues, and other conditions affecting operations.
- Provide timely updates to Cell Leaders, Managers, and the onsite team regarding production and employee-related concerns.
- Set a strong example through dependable attendance, professional conduct, accountability, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized production environment.

Training & Employee Development

- Serve as a hands-on coach and trainer for production employees.
- Train associates on applicable production duties, machinery, procedures, safety requirements, and performance expectations.
- Coordinate new-hire training and track employee progress through required On-the-Job Training (OJT) documentation.
- Provide daily training updates to the onsite team, including progress, performance concerns, and areas requiring additional instruction.
- Develop proficiency in applicable production machinery to effectively operate equipment, demonstrate procedures, and train associates.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

- Partner with plant leadership and the onsite team to identify and communicate issues involving safety, quality, production delivery, GMP compliance, and PPE requirements.
- Reinforce OSHA and site-specific safety procedures, GMP standards, PPE requirements, and established work practices.
- Immediately report work-related incidents, injuries, and safety concerns and complete required documentation.
- Address and communicate safety or compliance concerns before they negatively affect employees or production.

Communication & Reporting

- Maintain effective communication between contracted employees, plant leadership, and the onsite staffing team.
- Report contractor questions, concerns, performance issues, and other relevant employee matters to the onsite team daily.
- Immediately communicate employee time-clock and timekeeping issues to the onsite team.
- Complete and submit daily manning sheets and required training, staffing, safety, and production documentation.
- Use Excel, email, tablets, and other workplace technology for reporting and communication.


QUALIFICATIONS

- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or technical training is a plus.
- 3-5 years of supervisory, management, team-lead, or comparable leadership experience preferred.
- Previous manufacturing or production leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in plastics manufacturing is a plus.
- Experience in packaging, bottling, or other high-volume manufacturing environments is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, train, and motivate employees.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, email, tablets, and other workplace technology.
- Ability and willingness to learn, operate, and train employees on production machinery associated with the assigned department.
- Self-motivated and able to perform effectively under pressure while meeting production goals.
- Dependable with strong attendance and professional conduct.
- Must be flexible with scheduling and available to work overtime as production needs require.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to regularly stoop, bend, kneel, reach, and handle objects, tools, equipment, and controls.
- Ability to safely work around production machinery in an active manufacturing environment.
- Must wear required PPE and comply with facility safety and GMP requirements.


SCHEDULE:
Day Shift: 6:45 AM-7:15 PM
Night Shift: 6:45 PM-7:15 AM

Week 1: Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday
Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday

The schedule alternates between four-day and three-day workweeks. Overtime may be required based on production needs.


COMPENSATION

$21.00-$24.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
