Pay $26.00/Hour

Monday through Friday 6:00am-2:30pm, over time to be expected could work until 4:30 pm. 1/2-hour unpaid lunch. Weld test will be completed during interview. Jeans, steel/composite toe shoes, welding jacket, gloves and welding hood are required for the weld test.

We are seeking a GMAW (MIG) Pipe Welder to join our fabrication team serving the fire sprinkler industry. This position involves welding carbon steel outlets onto steel pipe using both automated welding equipment and manual welding techniques. The majority of production welding is completed by machine; however, candidates must have hands-on welding experience to understand weld quality requirements, identify defects, and perform repairs when necessary.

This is a production-oriented welding role in a fast-paced fabrication environment where quality, safety, and efficiency are critical.

Responsibilities
Weld carbon steel outlets onto steel pipe for fire sprinkler system applications.
Operate automated and semi-automated welding equipment.
Perform manual GMAW (MIG) welding on carbon steel pipe and fabricated assemblies.
Complete specialty welding tasks, including spool pieces, flanges, and related components.
Inspect completed work for weld defects, dimensions, alignment, end preparations, and seam splits in pipe.
Repair weld discontinuities and failed welds as required.
Read and interpret production paperwork and work instructions.
Use tape measures and basic measuring tools to verify product dimensions.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe welding station.
Report equipment malfunctions, repair needs, and safety concerns promptly.
Meet company quality and productivity standards.

Minimum Qualifications
Required
Minimum 1 year of MIG (GMAW) welding experience.
Minimum 1 year of machine operation experience.
Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
Ability to work safely in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Basic computer skills.
Good communication skills and a positive team-oriented attitude.

Preferred
Previous experience welding carbon steel pipe.
Experience in pipe fabrication and the fire sprinkler industry.
Experience with outlet welding, spool fabrication, and flange welding.
Ability to identify weld defects and perform repairs.
Welding Qualifications & Testing

Candidates must complete a hands-on weld test during the interview process:

Weld 1-inch outlets onto 2-inch steel pipe using the GMAW process.
Weld will be evaluated through visual inspection.
Candidates must bring their own welding helmet to the interview.

Employment Qualification Requirement:

Candidates must successfully pass a Manual GMAW 2G Pipe Welding Qualification Test during their first week of employment.

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and work around fabrication equipment.
Ability to work safely around welding equipment, overhead cranes, and moving materials.
